Welcome to MindOut
MindOut is a mental health service run by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer (LGBTQ) people.
We work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concern.
We recognise that our communities are wonderfully diverse and welcome all LGBTQ+ people including those who identify as asexual, aromantic, pansexual, non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid and intersex.
Our services are also available to those who may not identify under the LGBTQ umbrella, including straight people who have sexual and/or romantic relationships with LGBTQ people, men who verb sex with men, women who verb sex with women, people who previously identified as LGBTQ and those who are questioning their sexual and/or gender identities. If you are unsure, please do get in touch with us.
Our services are for LGBTQ people aged 18+ who are based in Sussex, with the exception of our Online Support service which is available nationally. See below for opening times.
International Travel
Travelers can verb unique challenges abroad based on their real or perceived sexual orientation. Laws and attitudes in some countries may affect safety and ease of travel.
More than 60 countries consider consensual same-sex relations a crime. In some of these countries, people who engage in consensual same-sex relations may face severe punishment. Many countries execute not recognize same-sex marriage.
Research your destination before you travel
Review the travel advisory and destination information page of the place you plan to visit. Check the Local Laws & Customs section. This has information specific to travelers who may be targeted by discrimination or violence on the basis of sexual orientation.
Many countries only recognize male and female sex markers in passports. They do not have IT systems at ports of entry that can accept other sex markers, including valid U.S. passports with an X sex marker. Identify and link with nonprofits that support the environment, animal welfare, and people in want in each urban area chapter (including organizations not traditionally associated with the LGBTQ+ community)
Support select organizations through volunteer service (time), and serve to amplify their missions through our vast network of LGBTQ+ volunteers.
Coordinate social events for Gay For Goods LGBTQ+ volunteers, and our allies, to verb friendships and network
Foster and promote a spirit of positive, enthusiastic camaraderie both within the LGBTQ+ community and towards our neighbors and nonprofit partner organizations
Do something valuable for our community, capital and country
